What we believe
Peebles Evangelical Church is an independent evangelical church.
The church’s vision is to be God's witnesses to, and see God's kingdom grow in, our community in Peebleshire.
The church’s mission is to:- Disciple those in and around the church towards greater spiritual health,
- Clearly proclaim the word of God,
- Encourage practical Christian service and outreach to our community and around the world.
To achieve our mission, we embed our values (below) in all that we do:
Biblical
We believe in bible-based teaching
- All teaching and doctrine is derived from God through the bible
- We practice the baptism of believers by immersion at their request and on personal confession of their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
- We regularly observe the Lord's Supper welcoming to the Table all true believers in the Lord Jesus Christ known to be living godly lives.
Praying
We are a church who value prayer
- We have regular prayer meetings
- Prayer is part of all services and meetings
- We pray before we act
Worship
We aim to facilitate collective worship and encourage personal worship
- We have Sunday services and midweek meetings where everyone is welcome
- We encourage daily personal worship
Discipleship
We want to disciple all members of the church fellowship to become more like Jesus
- We have corporate teaching on Sundays
- We have small group discipleship midweek
- 1-2-1 discipleship can be arranged as appropriate
Caring
We care for those within and out with our church family
- We care for those through midweek small groups
- We have a team of people to welcome people into the church
- We serve our community through children’s work
Evangelism
We want to share the good news of the Gospel through evangelism
- We build relationships with our community through various activities
- We regularly organize corporate evangelism activities and encourage personal evangelism
